Abstract
Basedonthenon-linearfinite-elementprocedureofLS-DYNA,theJohnson-Holmquist-
Cook(JHC)modelwasadoptedtoinvestigatethedamageevolutionoftheconcreteneartheblasthole
inthecasesofdifferentchargingstructuresanddifferentair-deckedratios.Thecalculationresultsfor
threechargingstructuresshowthatthereisagradualchangefromcompression-shearfailuretotensile
failurewiththeincreaseofair-deckedratioandthatdifferentair-deckedchargingstructurescanbeappliedtodifferentblastingpurposes.
Forbenchblasting,thehighestutilizationratioofexplosionenergybelongstothetopair-
deckedchargingstructure.Whentheair-deckedratioreaches40%,thefailuremodeoftheconcreteelementchangesfromcompression-
shearfailuretotensilefailureinthemiddleoftheblasthole.
Itisindicatedthatacertainreasonableair-deckedratioexistsanditcanbeused
toimprovetheutilizationratioofblastingenergy.Forpresplittingblastingandsmoothblasting,the
bestblastingeffectbelongstothemiddleair-deckedchargingstructure.Detonatingmannerscanaffect
benchblastingmorestronglythanpresplittingblastingandsmoothblasting.
