Abstract
Themovablecellularautomata(MCA)methodwasimprovedandappliedtosimulatethe
penetrationprocessoftungstenlongrodprojectilesinto27SiMnMotargetplates.Atanimpactvelocityof1000m/
s,thesimulatedresultsshowthatdifferentaspectratioscorrespondtodifferentmaximalpenetrationdepthsandthemaximalpenetrationdepthincr
aseswiththeincreaseoftheaspectratio,
buttheaspectratiosover25affectweaklypenetrationdepthunderthegivenexperimentalconditions.
Thecomputedtemperaturefieldsfortheprojectilesandtargetsareinagreementwiththeexperimentalresults.
Themovablecellularautomata(MCA)methodcanbeusedtoeffectivelyanalyze
thedamageprocessoftheprojectile-targetinteraction.
