Abstract
Asymmetricalmassabrasionisoneofthedominantreasonstocauseaprojectilebending,
yawingandbreakwhenitstrikesaconcretetargetnormallyathighvelocity.Thesphericalcavity-expansionmodelisemployedtoconstructthetransverseloadinthecaseofasymmetricalmassabrasion.
Withconsideringtheaxisdragforcethatcanreflectthecontinuousvaryingofprojectilenoseshape,a
methodisproposedtoanalyzetheyieldingofanormalpenetratingprojectileunderthecombinationof
compressionandbendingduetoasymmetricalmassabrasion.Itindicatesthatthecriticalyielding
cross-sectionofaprojectileisverymuchsensitivetothetransverseloadinducedbyasymmetricalmass
abrasionwhenitsufferslargeaxisdragforce.
