Abstract
AtechniquebasedonluminousfluxmethodwasappliedtomeasureshearstraininSHPSB
(splitHopkinsonpressurebar)experiment.Theopticalsetupconsistedofthreemajorcomponents:a
collimationlaser,aphotoelectricsensingapparatusandtwoopticalbaffles.Resultsfromavalidexperimentandanuncertaintyanalysisshowedthatitwaseffectiveandaccuratetogettheshearstrain
ofthespecimen.Theshearstrainmeasuredbytheopticalapparatuswascomparedwiththetheoretic
ones.Itwasfoundandanalyzedthatthemeasuredshearstrainwaslessthanthatofthetheoryinvalue
