Abstract
Basedonthemodeofductileholeexpansion,theChen-and-LimodelandForrestal-and-Warrenmodelwereanalyzedforarigidsharp-
nosedprojectileperforatingductilemetallictargetplates.Analysisshowsthatthesetwomodelshavethesameformula,
buttheirapplicablerangesaredifferent
whichisduetotheiremployingthecylindricalcavityexpansiontheoryandsphericalcavityexpansion
theory,respectively.Andthesetwomodelswerecomparedwiththeexperimentalresultsfromthe
perforationofaluminumplatesbyrigidsharp-nosedprojectiles.Thetheoreticalresultsbythesetwo
modelsareinagreementwiththeexperimentalresults.
