Abstract
Toexploretheapplicationoffoam materialstospaceprotection,theballisticlimitcurveof
analuminumfoam-filledshieldwasobtainedinthevelocityrangefrom0.5to7.0km/sbyexperimentsandnumericalsimulation,
whichwascomparedwiththatoftheWhippleshield.Theresults
showthatthealuminumfoam-filledshieldhashigherspace-debrisprotectionperformancethanthe
Whippleshieldwiththesamearealdensityandthickness;andthatthefoamporosityhasfewinfluencesontheprotectionperformanceofthealuminumfoam-
filledshield.
