Abstract
Explosionventingwascarriedoutinbothlinkedandsinglevesselsunderthesamedimensionlesseffectiveventareaconditionstostudyflamepropa
ationandexplosionpressureevolution.It
isshownthatthemaximumreducedexplosionpressureandthemaximumpressureriserateinthe
linkedvesselsexceedthoseinthesinglevessels,especially,thedifferenceofthemaximumpressure
riseratesismuchgreaterbetweenthelinkedvesselsandthesinglevessels.Atthesamedimensionless
effectiveventarea,themaximumreducedexplosionpressureinthereceivingvesselofthelinkedvessels,
ishigherthanthatinthereleasingvessel.Whenthereceivingvesselissmallerthanthereleasing
vessel,themaximumreducedexplosionpressureinthereceivingvesselismuchhigher.Withtheincreaseofthepipelength,
themaximumreducedexplosionpressureinthereceivingvesselincreases,
andthemaximumreducedexplosionpressureinthereleasingvesselchangesunconspicuously.During
theexplosionventinginthelinkedvessels,theflamepropagatesaccelerativelyinthepipe.Andatthe
samepipelengths,theflamepropagationspeedfromasmallvesseltoabigvesselishigherthanthat
fromabigvesseltoasmallvessel.
