Abstract
Drop-hammerloadexperimentswereperformedondifferentrocksamples.Bychangingthe
drophammerweight,dropheightandpistonrodspacermaterial,transientshockpressurepulsesin
therocksampleswererecordedbythepressuregauges.Experimentalresultsindicatethatthepropertiesoftherocksundergothefollowingchangesinducedbydilatancy:(
1)thepermeabilityoftherocks
increasesinvaryingdegrees,andthedensertherockis,thegreatertheincreasemultipleofthepermeabilityis;(
2)theelasticmodulusandelasticlimitdecreasewiththeincreaseofrockvolume;(3)
thepropagationvelocitiesoflongitudinalandtransversewavesdecreaseintherocks;(4)theporosities
intherocksincreaseduetotheextensionofthenew-producedorinherentmicro-cracksintherocks.
