  • Polypropylene(PP)plasticwasreprocessedbylaserfacilitytodecreasethelocalstrengtharoundthescoredline. Theweakenstrengthisnecessarytoevaluatetomeetengineeringrequirement. Inthepresentresearch,thecommercialfiniteelementsoftwareLS-DYNA wasappliedtoanalyze PPsfailurestrengthunderimpact.IntheFE model,theequivalentsectionmethodwasappliedto approximatethetinyorificesformedbylaser.Meanwhile,accountforrate-dependentofPPmaterial, sixstress-straincurveswithdifferentstrainrateweregiventodescribethematerial.Thefailurestrain wasdeterminedthroughparameteridentificationapproach.Comparedwithaseriesofexperiments, thenumericalresultswereconfirmed.Byrangeanalysisofnumericalresults,itwasfoundthatthe failurestrengthincreasedwiththeincreaseofthediameterofseamlessline,anditdecreasedwiththe increaseoftheimpactingvelocity.
