  • The45steelcylindershellswereloadedbytheimprovedSHPBtoundergoexpandingfracture. Theexperimentalcylindershellssubjectedtodifferentdegreesofexpandingdeformationranging fromzerotofracturestrainwererecoveredwithoutsecondloading.Andtheradialstrain,strainrate andcircumferentialtensionstressofthecylindershellsatthefracturepositionwereobtainedbynumericalsimulationandexperiments. Thefracturetime,fracturestrain,fracturestrainrateandfracturestressofthecylindershellsatthefracturepositioncanbeaccuratelydeterminedbythestrainsignalsattheen softhecylindershells.Theimprovedexperimentaltechniquecanbeusedtoobserve theexpandingfractureofthemetalcylindershellsinthestrainraterangefrom102to104s-1.
