Abstract
Inordertoinvestigatetheelastic-plasticbulkingofasubmarine,anexistentsimplifiedmodelforasubmarine,
namelythering-stiffenedcylindricalshell,waschosenasthesimulationobject,
andafluid-solidcouplingmodelwasbuiltbyusingthenonlinear,explicittransientdynamiccode,
MSC.Dytrantoexploretheelastic-plasticbulkingofthering-stiffenedcylindricalshellsubjectedto
underwaterexplosionload.ThecriticaldynamicbulkingloadwasobtainedbyusingtheBudiansky-
RothruleandtheSouthwellmethod.Andthefollowingfactorswerediscussed:loadintensity,mesh
density,radius-to-thicknessratio,length-to-radiusratio,ribspacingandribsizewhichinfluencing
thedynamicbucklingmodeandthecriticalbucklingloadofthering-stiffenedcylindricalshellsubjectedtounderwaterexplosiveloading.
Thesimulatedresultsshowthatthebuiltfluid-solidcoupling
modelcanbeusedtosimulatethedynamicbulkingofthering-stiffenedcylindricalshellbycombining
MSC.Dytran.Andthemodelmeshsizeandthestructuralparametershaveacertaininfluenceonthe
criticaldynamicbucklingload,inwhichtheradius-to-thicknessratiohasmoreobviousinfluence.
