Abstract
Aseriesofexperimentswerecarriedouttoexploretheeffectsofpackagematerialsonthe
performancesofapiezoresistive MEMSaccelerometerunderhigh-gimpact.Fortheaccelerometers
packagedwithceramicandstainlesssteel,respectively,theresidualstressandthepiezoresistancevariationweremeasuredbyusingaRamanspectrometerbeforeandafterpackage.
Theirsensitivityand
anti-overloadcapabilityweretestedbyapplyingaMachethammerandaHopkinsonbar,respectively.
Andthetestprecisiondifferencesbetweenthetwoaccelerometerswereanalyzedinthefieldexperiment.
Theexperimentalresultsshowthattheresidualstressincrementsoftheaccelerometerswith
stainlesssteelpackagearehigherthanthoseoftheaccelerometerswithceramicpackageandthepiezoresistancevariationscausedbytheresidual
tressesarehigher.Buttheaccelerometerswithstainlesssteelpackagehavehighersensitivitiesandbetteranti-
overloadcapabilitiescomparedwiththeaccelerometerswithceramicpackage.
