Abstract
Alaserdisplacementgauge(LDG)systemisproposed.Boththestaticanddynamiccalibrationsarecarriedout,
andtheresultsshowthatthesystemiseffectivefordynamictest.Asanefficientmeasuringmethod,
theLDGcanbeappliedintheHopkinsonbarexperiment,suchas:(1)the
LDGcanbeusedtomonitortheradialdisplacementofthespecimen,withwhichthedynamicPoissonsRatiocanbecalculated;(
2)theLDGcanbeadoptedtomeasurethecracksurfaceopeningdisplacementofthenotchinadynamicfracturetest,
andthenthedynamicfractureenergycanbeobtainedbyassociatingthesignalsfromthestraingaugesmountedonthebars;(
3)aninnovativeHopkinsonbarsystemfortestingultra-
softmaterialsunderintermediatestrainratesisdeveloped,where
theLDGisemployedtomonitorthedeformationofthesampledirectly,andtwopiezoelectricforce
transducersaresandwichedbetweenthespecimenandtwobarsrespectivelytomeasuretheweakdynamicloadsdirectly.
