Abstract
Inordertoinvestigatetheexpansioncharacteristicsofthehighpressurecombustiblegasjet
inabulk-loadedliquidandtoexplorethecontrolmethodsforimproveingthejetstability,acylindrical
four-stagestepped-wallchamberwasdesigned.Usingahigh-speedkinescopesystem,theexpansion
andmixingprocessofthegasjetintheliquidwasobserved.Aseriesofphotosdescribingjetexpansionform
wereobtained,theexpansionvelocityoftheTaylorcavitywasmeasuredandtheeffectsof
thechamberwallshapeonthejetexpansionwerecompared.A2-Daxisymmetricgas-liquidtwo-phase
turbulentflow modelwasdevelopedtosimulatethejetexpansionprocess.ThecalculatedjetexpansionshapeandexpansionvelocityoftheTaylorcavitywereconsistentwithexperimentalresults.
Obtainedresultsshowthatvortexemergesatthechambersteps,
whichinducesthejettoexpandradially
thenrestrainsKelvin-Helmholtzinstability.Thestepped-wallchamberboundarycanimprovethejet
stability.
