                    Abstract
                            Aimedatthedifficultyinthetheoreticalanalysisonthemechanicalbehaviorsofaluminum
foam-filledcylindricalshellsduetothecomplicatedeformationpatternsofaluminum foamsand
shells,theBilkhu/Duboiscrushablefoam modelwasanalyzedandthenusedtodescribethemacroscopicmechanicalbehaviorsofaluminumfoam,
randomgeometricimperfectionswereusedtodepict
thepotentialimperfectionsofthecylindricalshell,andthestaticanddynamicmechanicalresponsesof
thealuminumfoam-filledcylindricalshellsweresimulatedbyFEM.Thenumericalsimulationsarein
goodagreementwiththeexperimentaldata.ItshowsthattheBuilhu/Duboiscrushablemodelcanbe
usedtodescribethemechanicalbehaviorsofaluminumfoamundercomplexstressesandthenumerical
simulationmethodsusedarereasonable.
