Abstract
Unnotchedoxygen-freehighconductive(OFHC)barsweretestedatdifferenttensilevelocitiesonatensionHopkinsonbarandanovelfacilityforhigh-
speedtensiletestsbasedonaone-stage
gasgunsystem.AndtheimpactvelocitycorrespondingtothefractureattheimpactendwasdeterminedastheexperimentalcriticalimpactvelocityintensionofOFH
.Arepresentativevolumeelement(
RVE)wasmodeledbyacircularcylindercontaininganellipsoidvoidatitscenterandtheRVE
wasdynamicallyloadedbyanaxialvelocityatitstop.Theentireprocesswasnumericallysimulated
fromthevoidgrowthtovoidinstabilityintheRVEforOFHCwhichobeyedtheJ-CorZ-Aconstitutiverelation.
Theconditionsofdynamicvoidinstabilitywerediscussedandacriterionbasedonvoid
shapeevolutionwaspresented.TheaverageradialstrainsoftheRVEinvoidinstabilitywerecomparedwiththeexperimentallocalizedfracturestrainsoftheunnotchedOFHCbarsu
deruniaxialimpacttension.
TheexperimentalcriticalimpactvelocityintensionofOFHCwasalsoanalyzedbyusing
theRVEmodel.
