  • StrainrateeffectofconcretedamwastakenintoconsiderationintheestablishmentofgravitydamfullycoupledmodelbyusingsoftwareLS- DYNA.Numericalsimulationmethodwasusedto studythedynamicresponseofthedamsubjectedtostrongunderwaterexplosionshockloading.The possiblefailuremodeandcorrespondingfailuremechanismofconcretegravitydamwerediscussed.It isfoundthatthefailuremodesofdamunderblastloadingdependnotonlyonitsowndynamiccharacteristics, butalsoontheunderwaterdepth,theblastcenterdistanceandthebombdosage.Thehead ofagravitydamisoneofweakpartsforantiknockperformance.Possiblefailuremodesofadamincludeexplosiontopitsatupstreamfaceconcretezoneswhichmeetexplosive, explosion-inducedcollapseatcrestanddownstream, brittlepunchingatjointoftheheadandupstreamplanesandnearthe downstreamslopewithpenetratingcracks.
