Abstract
Tosimulatethemovingofaxisymmetricdetonationfrontontrianglesandquadrilateralsusingthelevelsetmethod,
assumingthatthedetonationnormalvelocityisthelinearfunctionofcurvature,
anaxisymmtriclevelsetequationisgainedbytheuseofcoordinatetransformation.Theconvectiontermofthelevelsetequationissolvedbythepositivescheme,
andthecurvaturetermissolved
bytheGalerkinisoparametricfiniteelementmethodandthesemi-implicittimesteppingtechnique.
Ontrianglesandquadrilaterals,theschemeofthelevelsetequationscontainingcurvatureishigher
thanfirstorderaccuracyinL2andL norms.Thecomputationalexampleisgivenofnonsmoothlevel
setsshorteningstablybythelocalcurvatureontheunstructuredmixedmeshes.Theexampleofmultipledetonationfrontscollidingshowsthattheschemeofthispapercanbeusedtosimulatethepropagationofdetonationfronto
curvature.
