Abstract
Thealuminumpowderof2mparticlesizewastakenasthemediumandaseriesofdustexplosionreliefexperimentswerecarriedoutbylinkingthesteel
eliefpipeswith25mminternaldiametertothetopofthecylindricalsteelvesselwith68mminternaldiameterand305mmheight.
The
steelreliefpipelengthandthedustmassconcentrationwereadjusted,respectively,toinvestigatethe
pressurecharacteristicsinthevesselandthereliefpipeandtoexploreprincipallythesecondaryexplosion-
inducedconditionintheexplosionreliefprocess.Experimentalresultsdemonstratethatsecondaryexplosionmayoccurwhenthereliefpipelengthanddustmassconcentrationarenolessthan1500
mmand500g/m3,respectively.Thepressurewavesinducedbysecondaryexplosionpropagatetowardboththevesselandthereliefpipeend.
Thepressurewavespropagatingtowardthevesseldisturbthereliefprocessandinducetheresidualunburntcombustible
mixtureinthevesselreact.
Hence,secondarypressurepeakappearsinthevessel.
